GIRL AND FATHER ON CLARK STREET BEACH, EVANSTON, ILLINOIS, OCTOBER 7, 2009

On an almost balmy day in October, this young lady dashed gleefully toward her brothers (out of camera range) as her father trudged up the sand, perhaps in Talmudic contemplation. It was my first visit to the Lake Michigan shore with the camera in more than a year, and the sight made me smile.

What a glorious picture! We used to live on Sheridan, right on the lake, and this picture made me very homesick - looks like you're getting great autumn waves. It made me long for the sharp bracing fall air off the lake.
