Many commercial buildings in Colorado have no gutters, meaning that icicles form easily on the edges of roofs, and some of them can grow so long (these were nearly three-footers) that they fall with a mighty clatter and imperil passersby below.

I saw these when upover in 2006 and loved them. Photographed a few and saw the warning signs beneath - but thought they looked fantastic.
Didn't see any as long as those ones though!
