Our cabin property seems to have become Corvid Central, with a flock of crows roosting in the swamp behind us, attended by half a dozen jays (fellow members of the family Corvidae) serving as, uh, wingmen. The jays have discovered the spot where I bribe a chipmunk to sit for his portrait and have learned to wait for me to come out with a cupful of bird seed.

Beautiful! Also loved the chipmunk you posted May 6. I see a lot of towhees, cardinals, sparrows, mockingbirds, mourning doves, and crows lately - spotted a hummingbird a few days ago but I haven't yet put out the feeder for them (should have put it out a month ago for their northern migration).
We don't get all that many birds at our feeders here on Lake Superior, compared with the neighbors. Our problem is that we are not here in the winter when the birds really appreciate handouts and as a result imprint themselves on particular residences. We get the itinerant and the dissatisfied, not the homebodies.
