Aurora Crown Imperial

This stately, soccer-ball-sized upside-down bloom belongs to the lily family and is native to the Himalayas. I'd never seen anything quite like it and during a recent visit to the Chicago Botanic Garden just had to capture it for my digital botany collection.

I am enjoying your photos as much as I enjoy reading the books you've written! And you have identified 2 flowers that I've wondered about! The 1st was the Lily of the Incas (March 25), and now the Aurora Crown Imperial, which I still remember seeing at Keukenhof Gardens, the Netherlands, April 1997! Thank you!
