Yesterday the fall colors at this much-loved and much-photographed site in Upper Michigan were close to their peak. It was our last visit to the Porkies for 2012; we're heading for winter quarters Saturday.

This is Gorgeous - is the lake Cold? Can you swim in it? Because it looks pristine!
Yes, you can, and people willing to hike down there often do. The lake is quite shallow and so warms up some in the summer. But I never tried it myself.
