Great catch! But why were you shooting at ISO 800 on a sunny BEACH, for Pete's sake? Even with such a long lens you could have used ISO 100 and gotten a photo with finer "grain" and sharpness.

That ISO 800 was a mistake. I usually have the camera set to at 400 for most shots, and would have gone to 100 had I remembered it was at the beach -- but I had set the ISO to 800 to get a high shutter speed for a Northwestern U. lacrosse game nearby, and forgot to dial down for the sand.

When printed to 8x10 size, there is a little, but barely perceptible, noise in the photograph. At Web size you can't see it, happily.
